About your host

Dr. Davide
Zilli

Dr. Davide Zilli directs the Client Services department in Mind Foundry and is dedicated to democratizing machine learning, educating business problem owners to enable them to leverage machine learning in their day-to-day work.

After obtaining a BEng Hons in Software Engineering from the University of Southampton, he joined the Institute for Complex Systems Simulation where he obtained a PhD for his research on bioacoustics and machine learning for citizen science. While at the Institute, he was visiting scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, working on pollution sensing, and research intern at Microsoft Research, Cambridge, UK, looking at acoustic detection of animal species.

Upon completion of his doctorate, he joined the Machine Learning Research Group at Oxford University, working with Prof Stephen Roberts on the acoustic detection of malarial mosquitoes. Concurrently, he held a position as a Junior Research Fellow at Somerville College, Oxford.

When Mind Foundry was spun out of the University, he joined in the position of research scientist, focussing primarily on time series analysis. He now works with clients to ensure that they get the most value out of machine learning with Mind Foundry products.
